MD Print Write Proves that Specialisation, Commitment and Investing in New Technology Drives Success
MD Print Write | Australia
MD Print Write is a Melbourne-based vehicle wrapping and signage business founded in 2006 by Mario Darmanin and his wife/business partner. Early in their journey, MD Print Write honed in on vehicle branding and wrapping as their specialty and have focused on continually refining their craft in the years since. Their first printer, a Roland XC-540, is still used in the business today but it sits alongside several newer, more advanced Roland DG devices that have been added to their line-up over the years. Most recently, MD Print Write became one of the first businesses in Australia to add the new-release TrueVIS XP-640 Eco-Solvent Printer to their operation, to harness the ultra-wide colour gamut, vibrancy and high print speeds.
We’re so impressed with our new XP-640 printer. All of our Roland printers have been great machines and have played a critical role in the growth of our business.
Before
- Difficulty achieving corporate colours to fulfil contracts on older, 4-colour models.
After
- Adding the XP-640, alongside their XC-540 and VS-540i has allowed them to increase production speed and output.
- Greater capacity to deliver corporate contracts and meet the highest quality branding and colour-matching requirements demanded by commercial clients.
Mario and his wife started MD Print Write from their family home in 2006, squeezing print brokering in after their ‘day jobs’, between 5pm and midnight. Within a few months, they’d gathered enough momentum to buy their first printer, a Roland DG XC-540, that launched them beyond print broking into the signage industry. That original XC-540 is still used in the business to this day, but the setting is now radically different.
The business grew quickly right from the start, enticing Mario to leave his day job to concentrate entirely on MD Print Write. Their next progression was to move from their home garage to a larger space, where the business continued to grow.
Specialise in one area
At that juncture, MD Print Write took stock of their position and decided their niche within the signage industry would be vehicle branding and wrapping, something they were both very passionate about. That pivotal decision drove MD Print Write to change their entire business model to concentrate their efforts on fleet branding and vinyl wrapping.
According to Mario, their “core focus is offering quality vehicle and fleet branding to the marketplace, along with excellent customer service and cost effective solutions.” Starting with that simple, clear purpose has allowed the business to refine their skills and experience to produce better and higher quality results for their customers.
That proved to be a very clever decision, driving growth and forcing them to move to even-larger premises. In line with that growth, Mario and his wife purchased an additional printer, the Roland DG VS-540i, allowing them to win more fleet wrapping contracts. Continuing to produce high quality work, their reputation grew quickly driving them to purchase the Roland EJ-640, to further increase their output.
Invest in Technology to Support your Growth
Fast forward to 2025 and MD Print Write purchased the latest release TrueVIS XP-640 for its even faster print speeds and unparalleled image quality.
When they found they were “struggling to hit corporate colours on the 4-colour EJ-640” the Team at MD Print Write conducted extensive research and received a lot of help from their Dealer Graphic Art Mart to choose their next device. After further consultation, Mario says they “knew this would be the machine they needed to hit the corporate colours they were chasing. So we traded in the EJ-640 for the XP-640 and we’re amazed with its colour gamut.” “We’re so impressed with this new printer. All of our Roland printers have been great machines and have played a critical role in the growth of our business.”
XP-640 to Underpin Future Growth
Mario says their main application for their new XP-640 is vehicle graphics but is conscious that “it may open the door for us to try new application opportunities.”
Mario is delighted with their new machine saying, “the quality of the new device is truly amazing. We’re loving the new inbuilt display and it makes the machine such a pleasure to use. We love how it takes you through all the steps so you cannot forget anything. So far customers love the vivid colours this new machine produces.”

Roland DG Reliability and Developments
When asked if he’d recommend Roland DG and its products to others, Mario’s reply is heartening; “I’ve been using Roland machines for 19 years and I’m a very happy and loyal Roland user. 100% - I would recommend Roland DG products. I believe they are industry-leading, super-reliable machines and this is why we’ve used Roland machines for so long and will continue to do so. The print quality and vibrancy, along with their reliability is the reason why we choose to use Roland machines. We’re proud to have seen the evolution over the 19 years and it’s always an exciting time when we purchase a new machine and see all the upgrades in tech and quality.”

Mario finishes saying “ we’re proud of the fact that we run only Roland machines here, and our next purchase will be a Roland.”
We can’t ask for greater support than that!
