Before
- Adelaide Sign Design was outsourcing their digital printing to external companies to keep up with customer demand.
After
- Purchasing their first Roland DG printer and Roland DG laminator gave Adelaide Sign Design greater latitude to meet their customers’ needs and control their workflow, timelines and the quality of their production.
- Their ensuing sales growth has necessitated investment in additional Roland DG devices to meet customer demand.
Owner and founder Chez Barbaro started Adelaide Sign Design as a sole-operator in a small, local transportable building in 1999, ‘back in the days of brush and paint’.
From those humble beginnings and keeping pace with innovation, Adelaide Sign Design has evolved into a much larger company with its own warehouse, utilising a number of digital print and cut devices, incorporating modern techniques to produce the highest quality vehicle, corporate, safety, point of sale and general signage.
Remaining a family-owned and operated business, Adelaide Sign Design now employs a number of staff through proactive recruitment targeting enthusiastic, hard-working, creatives who each have a passion for the signage industry.
Business owner Chez is personally dedicated to "building up our next generation of sign writers and designers" by offering apprenticeships. In line with this vision, his team includes several young, up-and-coming talents who are being mentored to grow in the industry.
In-house printing improves quality, in every way
In the early days of operation, Adelaide Sign Design were outsourcing their digital printing to external suppliers. As demand increased and they became busier in that area, Chez realised it was time to commit to buying their own digital printer and laminator to gain control of their production quality, manage their own workflow, timelines and to best meet their customers’ needs.
Once the initial decision to invest was made, the Team researched a range of premium brands. “They had always had good feedback that Roland was one of those premium brands and we were happy with the fact that they are made in Japan.” They also gathered print samples from their Roland DG sales rep and attended demonstrations to see the machine in action. Being happy with the information and the quality of the prints, deciding to buy their first Roland DG printer was straightforward.
After the initial set-up and training they received through their Roland DG Engage installation, they’ve “found it easy to use and the prints from their first model are forever increasing in vibrancy and quality.” Which according to Chez is “why we’ve stuck with the Roland DG brand and are now onto our third upgrade of the printer.” Each new printer has been put into operation alongside its previous model, with their latest investment in their TrueVIS VG3-640 large format inkjet printer cutter back in June 2023 working in parallel with their original VS-540.
Mastering their craft is an ongoing focus
Chez is aware that the new model Roland DG devices can take his business in new directions but he’s “happy to stay focused on signage (for the time being).” That said, he’d “definitely recommend Roland DG and their products to others because the support we receive from them is fantastic and the quality of the machines is of a high standard.”
