The last time the Roland DG Sydney Creative Centre was refreshed, it was for Roland DG Australia’s 25th Anniversary Celebration and Open House back in 2013.
This year, the Creative Centre refresh was to include our new printers into the existing product line up, and to make the area contemporary, light and bright, showcasing the range of applications our printers can produce.
The room layout was planned to maximise the space for viewing and demonstrations. A raised walkway with printers along each side was installed, as well as a lounge and applications area, and shelving to display a range of three dimensional objects printed using sublimation and UV technologies.
Artwork for the large, two storey walls and windows was designed to show the quality and versatility of Roland DG’s products. A large photographic image was sourced for the back wall, printed in black and white with vertical sections of the image printed in colour and stuck to board. These were overlayed onto the image, like they’re popping out of it. To add colour, a coloured ink blot was printed to a white background for two of the walls, and the windows were covered in bright pop art images printed on clear window film using the light from outside to add another dimension to the room. We also hung a UV-printed acrylic lightbox from the ceiling to highlight the range of Roland DG's VersaUV products.
Naturally, all graphics were printed in-house. For the walls, adhesive vinyl with satin over laminate was printed to on a VersaEXPRESS RF-640 Wide Format Printer and a SOLJET EJ-640 Wide Format Printer. The window graphics were printed on transparent cast film, on an LEC-540 UV Printer Cutter. Printing, removal, remodelling and installation occurred over a few days.
The result? The space looks brand new and shows that with the right technology, you can make dramatic changes cost effectively, and with little time and effort.
