Rival Ink Increases Colour Accuracy for Customer Brands with New Roland DG VG2-640 with Green and Orange Ink

After racing dirt bikes competitively for many years, in January 2014, Alex Staatz and his business partner decided to combine their passion for design and the Motocross industry to create Rival Ink. Based in Brisbane and California, Rival Ink specialises in the design and print of custom graphics and accessories for the Motocross industry, supplying to customers around the world.

A need to reproduce dirt bike plastics colours for his customers more accurately led Alex to the Roland DG TrueVIS VG2-640 with Green and Orange ink. As he notes, “Motocross graphics are bright and loud, so the addition of the green and orange are essential in the production of our design range and quality of product.” The expanded colour gamut means the company can deliver printed graphics that more closely match their customers’ brands, giving them the “ability to nail KTM orange and Kawasaki green” for a “much cleaner, visibly appealing product.”

At Rival Ink, the impressive results from the VG2-640, in addition to the ongoing support from their dealer Sign Essentials, has prompted the business to look at purchasing another Roland DG printer to further expand their business: “We are looking at implementing another identical printer in our fleet, to better speed up production and offer bright, high quality graphics across MX graphics as well as iron on transfers and promotional stickers.”

Alex has found working with Roland DG to be a positive experience noting that “[Roland DG] is a lot more efficient and easy to deal with than other printer companies we’ve previously used.” And when asked if he would recommend the brand to others, Alex playfully responds “No, because we want to be ahead of everyone else and keep the best to ourselves”.
