Roland DG Releases VersaWorks 7 Next-Generation RIP Software To Expand Print Output Capabilities for Everyone - from Novice to Pro
Hamamatsu, Japan, March 27, 2025 – Roland DG Corporation, a leading manufacturer of wide-format inkjet printers and printer/cutters worldwide, is excited to announce the global release of new VersaWorks 7 RIP software which is now shipping with its inkjet printers and is available as a free upgrade to customers using compatible models.
Ryugo Nimura, President of Global Sales and Marketing at Roland DG noted, “For everyone from printing professionals to those with little or no experience, our new VersaWorks 7 provides an optimal output environment tailored to each customer's needs, with enhanced processing capabilities, more intuitive operation, and support for both macOS and Windows OS users while continuing the excellent functionality and usability of the previous version.”
VersaWorks 7 is designed to optimise the capabilities of Roland DG printers, ink and media to produce unmatched print quality and ease of use. A wide variety of colour settings are available, including Roland DG’s proprietary “True Rich Color”, which combines both vivid and natural output to allow users to quickly produce graphics that best suit their design needs. In addition to built-in PANTONE® and Roland Color System libraries, a “Nearest Color Finder” function can automatically generate colour charts for specified spot colours to enable fast and accurate colour matching for brand logos. It not only boosts workflow efficiency but also helps deliver on output requirements.
According to Nimura, “This new version enhances VersaWorks’ renowned ease of use while adding even greater functionality.” The navigation design has been restyled to provide intuitive operation for both experienced VersaWorks users and those using the RIP software for the first time. A new home screen allows users to check the operating status of up to four printers and remaining ink levels at a glance. The simple user interface allows for more error-free, stress-free, and efficient output operations than ever before.
Memory capacity has been increased by 62% over the previous version to take full advantage of the processing capabilities of the latest Windows OS and macOS. Even large file sizes or complex data with special effects such as transparency and blurring can be output smoothly in high definition. VersaWorks 7 can process up to four data files and output to four printers at the same time and enables customers to print multiple jobs faster and in higher volumes, for improved productivity and profitability.
In addition, output data from VersaWorks 7 is stored securely in the cloud of Roland DG Connect – a total print operation platform that provides tools such as ink and media usage, maintenance and cost analysis – allowing users to back-up jobs and settings for access.
“The diversification and individualisation of consumer needs has led to an increasing demand for on-demand printing that enables timely and flexible production,” Nimura said. “This growth has increased the use of our printers not only by print professionals, but also by those who have never been involved in the print business, such as retailers, interior decorators, and schools. That's why we created VersaWorks 7 to be the best RIP software for all users. In addition, we’ll be adding extension features that can be customised according to the business type and workflow. VersaWorks will continue to evolve and adapt to the changing times, to contribute to our customers’ creativity and business opportunities.”
