07-Mar-2017 Roland DG Announces Powerful New CAMM-1 Professional Vinyl Cutters

Sydney, Australia, March 7, 2017 – Roland DG Corporation, a leading manufacturer of wide format inkjet printers, printer cutters and vinyl cutters worldwide, today announced the launch of the GR-640/540/420 professional vinyl cutters, the latest additions to its CAMM-1 series.

According to Greg Stone, Roland DG Australia Product & Marketing Manager, the GR series has been completely redesigned from the ground up to deliver best-in-class cutting quality and productivity due to increased accuracy, speed, media versatility and additional state-of-the-art cutting features. The new ergonomic L-shaped design of the integrated stand and machine provides the stability required to ensure precision cutting even at high speed. The redesigned cutting carriage, blade holder and other core mechanisms enable the machines to achieve a maximum cutting speed of 1,485 mm/s and up to 600 gf of downforce for cutting through dense media with a single pass. Models are available in 64”, 54” and 42” cutting widths to allow users to pair them with the inkjet printers they are currently using.


Stone said, “The cutting industry has become increasingly diverse. In addition to sign making, cutting now includes the production of window and vehicle graphics, window tinting and car protection film for automotive restyling, personalised apparel, labels and decals, packaging prototypes, paint/sandblast stencils and more. The breadth of applications demands the ability to handle a wide range of materials of varying thicknesses, such as window films, high intensity reflective materials, heat transfer materials including flock and glitter, cardboard, and sandblast mask.”

To meet the variety of applications and materials required by today’s cutting industry, the GR series is equipped with electronic pinch rollers that can adjust the pressure to 10 pre-set levels at the touch of a button for smooth feeding of any media thickness. The overlap cutting function allows for up to ten times overlap cutting for difficult-to-cut substrates. The tangential emulation function delivers precise corner cutting quality for cutting sharp letters in thick materials.

A host of innovations make the GR series extremely easy to use. The cutters are capable of reading crop marks on pre-printed data to accurately align graphics. The bundled Roland CutStudio features a perforating cutting function that is convenient for making pop-out stickers and decals, and a cut-by-colour function that is useful when outputting designs with multiple coloured sheets. A new function automatically creates weed lines for more efficient weeding after designs have been cut. Roland CutStudio includes plug-in software that allows outputting from Adobe® Illustrator® and CorelDRAW®. A media basket is now provided to collect cut sheets.

01-Mar-2017 Roland DG Announces Availability of New ErgoSoft Roland Edition 2 RIP Software

Sydney, Australia, March 1, 2017 – Roland DG Corporation, a leading manufacturer of wide format inkjet printers and printer cutters worldwide, today announced that ErgoSoft Roland Edition 2 RIP software will be available for its Texart dye sublimation transfer printers beginning in March, 2017.

ErgoSoft Roland Edition 2 is the latest RIP software developed by ErgoSoft, one of the premier RIP providers in the textile printing industry. It was developed specifically for the Texart XT-640 and RT-640 to support high-fidelity digital textile printing of sports and fashion apparel, soft signs such as polyester banners and flags, curtains and other interior décor as well as promotional goods and personalised gifts. The new RIP will be available for Texart models beginning in March 2017. XT-640 or RT-640 customers who activated the previous ErgoSoft Roland Edition RIP software on or after March 8, 2016 are eligible to update* to the ErgoSoft Roland Edition 2 free of charge. Those users who activated their ErgoSoft Roland Edition before March 8, 2016 will be able to update to the ErgoSoft Roland Edition 2 for a fee. Customers seeking an update should contact their nearest Roland DG dealer.

ErgoSoft Roland Edition 2 provides over 40 new features and innovative enhancements. Image Add-Ons functions support several new effects such as barcodes, rulers and drill holes. Multiple effects can also be applied to a single set of data. Specific editing functions support file formats that are commonly used for textile printing. The Step & Repeat feature to create flawless repeating textile patterns from a single image is now available for PDF and EPS file formats. The Colour Replacement feature for creating multiple colour variations is also now available for TIFF and PSD file formats. Variable Data Printing for efficient production of uniforms and personalised goods is now included as standard.

 


ErgoSoft Roland Edition 2 is designed to boost users’ productivity. A new dithering method increases rasterisation speed and improves dot placement accuracy, resulting in 40% faster RIP times and smoother gradients. The new Aurelon PDF engine displays dynamic, colour correct previews of PDF files and improves overall performance and colour management. ErgoSoft Roland Edition 2 also includes up to eight simultaneous RIP Servers to drastically reduce processing time when working with high-capacity data or multiple data sets at the same time. The new Printer Pool feature provides job management flexibility for users with multiple printers of the same type. Also included, the Hot Folder feature makes batch printing of images with the same specific print settings easier to further enhance printing efficiency.

* Existing print settings can still be used even after updating to the ErgoSoft Roland Edition 2.

01-Mar-2017 Roland DG Launches Dental 3D Printer and Dental Mill for Workflow Efficiency

Sydney, Australia, March 1, 2017 – Roland DG Corporation, a leading provider of dental milling devices worldwide, announced today the release of its first dental 3D printer, the DWP-80S, to assist in the production of dentures. Launched simultaneously, the DWX-52DC is the newest addition to the Company’s DWX series dental mills and incorporates several new automated functions for the unattended production of precision dental restorations. With the announcement, Roland DG now offers the dental industry both additive (3D printing) and subtractive (milling) manufacturing processes to improve the workflow of dental technicians.



To shorten production timeframes and lower costs while maintaining the quality and consistency of dental restorations, an increasing number of dental laboratories are installing digital systems consisting of CAD/CAM software, digital scanners and milling machines to replace conventional casting methods. Since its launch in 2010, Roland DG’s DWX series dental mills have gained industry recognition for their desktop size, user-friendliness, robust reliability and open architecture, which has contributed to the widespread digitalisation of dental restoration such as crowns and bridges. The DWX-52DC adds exciting new features to further automate and expand the formerly labour-intensive process.

According to Kohei Tanabe, Roland DG’s general manager of medical market development, denture production is still mostly carried out manually and requires an advanced level of skill. “Dental labs are seeking a more efficient, flexible digital solution to expedite the production of denture applications to accommodate the increasing demand from patients and clinics,” he said. To meet those demands, Roland DG developed the DWP-80S 3D printer to streamline the denture fabrication process.

The DWP-80S uses a proprietary projector lens to cure resin materials with UV-LED light. Bundled with the DWP-80S, new Quick Denta software provides a remarkably simple solution for the 3D printing of custom trays, base plates and frameworks. Using the easy-to-follow workflow wizard with pre-configured parameters, applications required for dentures can be printed in three simple steps, eliminating the need for time-consuming learning or editing time. The DWP-80S analyses the precision and fit required to choose the ideal number and layout of support points while adjusting for material shrinkage factors. The 80mm square work area is ideal for simultaneous printing of multiple units*.

With a newly developed automatic disc changer (ADC) capable of storing up to six discs, the DWX-52DC is fully equipped to mill a variety of precision dental restorations overnight to increase lab productivity. The included pin-type material adapter enables setting up and milling seven pin-type blocks consecutively. With the DWX-52DC’s expanded production capacity, a variety of dental restorations, including copings, crowns, full bridges, abutments, surgical guides and models can be produced. The 15-station automatic tool changer (ATC) automatically replaces milling burs without interruption, enabling efficient milling of a wide range of materials, including zirconia, wax, PMMA, composite resin, PEEK, gypsum, CoCr sinter metal and fiber-reinforced resin.

The DWX-52DC is capable of simultaneous 5-axis machining which supports complex restorations with undercuts. Rather than being locked into one manufacturer, open architecture allows users to integrate the unit into their existing workflow with popular scanners, software and the latest materials. For continuous, reliable production, an air pressure system automatically changes the volume of air for the type of material being milled. The Virtual Machine Panel (VPanel) allows users to quickly configure settings for up to four machines from a single computer for high-volume production.
